ellasabe Posted December 20, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2023 Like most ports, for anyone who has been to Puerto Montt, can I assume there will be lots of sign holding or offices of tour(s) operators? The excursion that we want ( volcano hike) has been sold out forever, and hoping to find it onshore. Even Viator has none that will fit into the time in port. Thanks in advance J. Mercruiser Posted December 21, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2023 (edited) I often book Viator tours that do not fit the time in port. For example, tour starts at 8am, ship arrives at 9am. I then send a message to the tour operator explaining the ship arrival & departure times and ask if they can accommodate. So far, the answer has always been yes because the tour operator knows they can sell the other seats to other people on the same ship. I've filled a whole bus this way by posting the tour on my roll call. If the tour operator says no, or doesn't respond, I would cancel. That has not happened so far. littlegit Posted January 12 #3 Share Posted January 12 We had a port cancelled at the last minute and replaced with Puerto Montt. When we arrived there (March 2023) were l of taxis and companies offering tours. We had already decided just to walk around town so I couldn't say how the prices were compared to online companies. Mercruiser Posted January 13 #4 Share Posted January 13 Ellasabe, It is bad etiquette to post a question and then ghost the thread.
Rare SandyR5 Posted January 24 #5 Share Posted January 24 We used Chileshoretours in Puerto Montt. They were TERRIFIC. We got a group,of 8 together from our roll call. Our guide was fantastic and we had the best day. FULL day and we did so much including going up to the snow line of the volcano. We ended the day spending time in Puerto Vera which is a lovely resort town. Had late lunch there at a local outdoor market. Ouldnt have had a better day.
