Stern platform at waterline?

Does anyone know if the platform/deck at the rear of the ship serves any purpose for activities such as swimming/water sports? Looks like it could be. Have not read any mention of this and many small ships and yachts have similar platforms that they leverage for that purpose.

I pointed this out to fellow cruisers when I was on board!

 

The original marketing showed this but it really hasn't been mentioned again. You can see a staircase going down next to the Astern Lounge that's mysteriously roped off. The platform itself has obvious docking pillars.

 

I'm sure that it will eventually be used.

We were told onboard there is a “secret lounge” down there and indeed the platform is planned for watersports.  No word on where/when they will use it.  We had a 6 day sailing in the caribbean so were definitely in waters where it could have been used.  Perhaps they are saving for longer sailings?
