Suggestions on tour

We are a group of 7 that is going to be in St. Thomas February 15th on the Carnival Celebration. I believe there are 3 other ships in port that day. Our main priority is the beach, but we wouldn't mind an island tour as well. We want to go to the beach first because we are worried about getting a spot, but it seems like all the tours do the beach last. Does anyone know of a tour that will start at the beach? Are we better to just take a taxi?
