princess captain circle recognising p&o loyalty

afternoon all 

we recently booked a cruise with princess both my wife and myself have been given loyalty of platinum , as we signed up to captains circle a few years ago but not cruised with princess only p&o but our children ( now adults ) have been given gold for daughter ruby for son , but our daughter done same amount of crusies as we have , our son has done one less then us ..so why a difference in levels . thanks... ..
