StaceyM Posted June 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2004 Just wondering if anyone has been on a Western Carribean cruise and had to divert somewhere. Where did you go instead? When we were on the Celebration last year the cruise before us and the one after us were diverted because of weather. We sailed in July and had great weather but not the folks before and after us. Just wondering where they would divert to. Sailing the Elation June 20th!! Woo Hoo!
Effie Posted June 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2004 We were to be on the western Caribbean (Key West, Cozumel) itinerary in Aug. '01 but were diverted in the middle of the first night due to mechanical problems with one of the engines on the Imagination. We ended up in the Bahamas instead. modnar Posted June 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2004 We weren't diverted to a different place, but we left Cozumel early (we knew about this before we were let off the ship) due to a storm.
elf169 Posted June 11, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2004 We were on the Glory Western last Oct. and due to tropical storm Larry, we skipped Belize and did Costa Maya instead. Didn't really matter to us, as long as we are on a cruise, don't care where it goes.
StaceyM Posted June 11, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted June 11, 2004 That's how I feel. I am just glad that they can divert if there is a bad storm!! I really don't care where we go. I would be more irritated if there were mechanical problems than a diversion due to mother nature for sure!!
travel girl23 Posted June 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Our friends were on a mid-December cruise last year and the waters at Belize were too rough to tender in so they diverted to Calica and Playa del Carmen. They loved it. Celebration - 9/99 Inspiration - 12/00 Jubilee - 10/02 Elation - 11/03 Elation again - 12/04 until the Elation
cmez Posted June 15, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Pride - 9/14/2002 Missed our last port of Progresso due to hurricaine Isadore. If we would of continued the path we were on, the hurricaine would of made a direct hit sometime in the night. We were diverted to Freeport, Bahamas. Lorrie Official Countdown to Conquest! staceyvols Posted June 15, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 15, 2004 First cruise, missed Cayman Island due to waves-just had an extra day at sea with VERY good drink specials. Next cruise, mechanical problems so got to San Juan late, spent the night (unplanned), then skipped St Marteen and went to Nassau instead. Who cares, it was 90 degrees and the bars were stocked!!
