PapaGoose Posted January 26 #1 Share Posted January 26 One of our stops on our upcoming SA cruise in February will be Montevideo Uruguay. We are planning on doing a morning walking tour and would like to have a steak/bbq lunch somewhere near the port or old city after the tour. There seem to be a lot of Parillas or steakhouse grills in the area but the reviews are mixed and some are very dated. Would anyone like to share any good and recent experiences with this type of restaurant in Montevideo?
vantec Posted January 27 #2 Share Posted January 27 Here are my notes from when we were there in 2018: We ate lunch at the Mercado, lots of restaurants to pick from, it was very warm inside but we found a restaurant with air conditioning. Tim had sausage, I had chicken, we split a huge beer – the bill came to $35, we put it on our Visa card. The Mercado was close to the ship, I'm pretty sure we could have ordered steak, we just were not interested. You can do a search on Mercado del Puerto. We will be in Montevideo in March and will definitely return to the Mercado.
SueMo Posted January 29 #3 Share Posted January 29 We had this lunch at L'Egregore Mercado. This was in March 2020. Very good--steak and eggs on fries with a huge side salad, and inexpensive! Definitely splittable. This was recommended to us by our tour guide with free tours Montevideo. This was a really nice day...before our cruise turned into the COVID cruise from hell!
