radman2020 Posted February 9 #1 Share Posted February 9 (edited) We are used to big ships and like them. Always wanted to do Windstar. There is a 9 day Croatia tour on the Wind Spirit that looks amazing. Someone suggested a 7 day “Unforgettable Croatia” tour on the Bellisima (35 passengers). We cannot decide which will be better. Windstar has a great reputation and the 145 passenger size is still small but attractive. 35 passengers may make it more exclusive or maybe, not as polished. Any insights or thoughts would be appreciated. The smaller ship is cheaper (probably primarily because it is shorter). Pudgesmom Posted February 17 #2 Share Posted February 17 I can’t speak to the smaller ship, but have sailed many times on the Windstar ships. Compared to a large ship, you will notice an enormous difference. The food is great, service superb and there are never any lines for tenders, food, or anything else. There is a board here where you can learn more about Windstar. Have a great time whatever you choose. 🙂
Denarius Posted March 9 #3 Share Posted March 9 (edited) Have done a couple of Croatian coastal cruises with UK provider Saga. Small motor yachts carrying 30 to 40 passengers. Onboard public areas limited, usually just bar/restaurant, outdoor terrace and sun deck. Ships cruise during the day and spend evenings and overnight in port. Atmosphere onboard very casual. No formality, tee shirts and jeans or shorts acceptable at all times although most men wear longs in the evening. Breakfast and lunch are usually buffet meals, dinner waiter (set menu) waiter served if provided; may not be on some or all evenings when reasonable choice of dining available ashore. Very enjoyable provided that you are gregarious - you will be like family after a day - as little opportunity to be alone except in your cabin. Highly recommended. Great accommodations, good food and being able to swim off the boat was a real plus. Highly recommended!
