luvemcruzes Posted March 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2006 PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD INSURANCE HOLDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE, TO MAKE SURE THAT THEIR INSURANCE COVERS YOU FOR CAR DAMAGES WHILE YOU ARE ON THE ISLAND. NOT ALL DO THE $10 INSURANCE COVERAGE THE CAR COMPANY OFFERS ONLY COVERS PART OF THE DAMAGE.......WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD HAVE OVER $800 MORE TO PAY WHEN WE HAD A FENDER BENDER IN ST MAARTEN. SEEMINGLY YOU ARE RESPONISBLE FOR BOTH CARS INVOLVED(WHETHER OR NOT THE OTHER CARS ARE INSURED.) NOT TO MENTION THE CHARGES FOR THE CARS WHILE THEY ARE OUT OF SERVICE. ITS A NIGHTMARE AND NOT WORTH THE HASSLE IF YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT
atlcple2 Posted March 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2006 I have rented a car 3 times in St. Martin and each time taken insurance on the car through travelex: https://www.travelex-insurance.com/Consumer/Welcome.htmx?location=23-8795 While we have been fortunate and not had any accidents in St. Martin, they offer good coverage.
