Seascape YC quick questions

Quick questions for recent travelers in Seascape YC.

- Are cards or a medallion used for access around the ship and to your room? If medallions, are you given a watch band / holder for them?

- Was there shade available for use around the YC pool (or other outdoor, fresh air area)? Either a cabana-esque option or other covered area?

- Was the in-room Nespresso decent? Did it compare to the espresso made in the YC restaurant / grille?

- Any words of wisdom for first time MSC YCers (who have sailed many other cruise lines)?

Thanks in advance!

You will get a card and a wristband at check-in. Either one can be used to access your stateroom, enter the Yacht Club, or make purchases on the ship.

You will need the card to exit/enter the ship.

There are pergolas that are first come/first serve. Some are reserved for certain suites but the rest are open for YC guests. There are shaded areas if you want to sit there.

Check the forum since most questions that first-time Yacht Club guests ask have already been asked and answered. The better prepared that you are, the better the experience (pun intended) will be.

Thanks @Two Wheels Only Your answers are very helpful. I've been reading a bit of the forum, which does provide some background and suggestions. I know there have been changes over the last few months (e.g. removal of the Seafood Extravaganza, which really, really, really stinks) so I was wondering if anyone had really recent advice/changes. Again, really appreciate your info!!!

There aren't a lot of shaded areas on the YC deck.  Depending on the time of day and the way the ship is facing, one can usually find some areas that are somewhat shaded by the structures on deck.  There is a raised lounge area located at one end of the pool that is shaded for certain hours of the day. The best time to score a pergola is on port days when most people are off the ship (even those aren't completely shaded).

In my opinion, the coffee drinks in Top Sail are better than the in-room Nespresso (although I use a Nespresso for coffee at home).  It's an easy walk from most cabins or you can ask your butler to deliver it to you.

Now here is a word of caution. In this photo of these chair hogs reserving these two lounge chairs in what appears to be under a shaded canopy is a sunburn trap as these canopies allow the UV rays through. Best bet is to get a pergola with solid vinyl roof and canvas front and side drapes. We bring extra shoelaces to tie down the corners of these drapes to their posts if windy and then tip ( $10-$20) to the OnePool attendant to weave towels if the sun is behind us that time of day on the exposed wall. As an aside, in the third photo, every YCer also has the option of garnering one of these vinyl roofed pergolas on the Aurea Top 19 sun deck as well.
