jean-lynd Posted March 10 #1 Share Posted March 10 We will be leaving early in the morning for our flights to Katmai National Park. I see they have a breakfast place but it doesn't open until 6am. Do they have a shop where we can get something to eat before that or is there anyplace nearby that we could by something the night before to eat in the morning? TIA
wolfie11 Posted March 11 #2 Share Posted March 11 You’re in the middle of downtown Anchorage. There are many nearby cafes where you could grab something the night before.
Northern Aurora Posted March 11 #3 Share Posted March 11 Have you considered just packing a couple of granola bars or a baggy of dried fruit in your suitcases? I've stayed eat the Captain Cook a great number of times through the years and there will be a coffee maker in the room.

We will have granola bars with us if we have any left since this is the last day of our trip. I was just hoping for something more substantial and I don't drink coffee. We will arrive in Anchorage the afternoon on the day before so hopefully we will be able to pick up something. It just seems that a lot of breakfast places in the area are closed on weekends or they close early in the day.
Northern Aurora Posted March 13 #5 Share Posted March 13 What hours does the Captain Cook offer room service?
AKStafford Posted March 13 #6 Share Posted March 13 You could take a cab or an Uber to City Market, which would be the closest grocery store, the evening before. It's address is 900 West 13th Avenue
Northern Aurora Posted March 13 #7 Share Posted March 13 I just looked at the hours for Snow City Cafe, and they don't open in time for our OP. But I wonder if they could purchase something from Snow City the afternoon before?

frugaltravel Posted March 16 #9 Share Posted March 16 Why not walk to New Sagaya Market on 13th Avenue? That might be the best to give you variety.
Northern Aurora Posted March 16 #10 Share Posted March 16 Given the number of flight crews who stay at the Captain Cook I wouldn't be surprised if they offer 24 hour room service.

Enilezah Posted March 22 #15 Share Posted March 22 New City Market would be the closest grocery option. If you would consider baked goods, perhaps Fire Island Bakeshop on K St or The Kobuk on 5th can be an option although they close at 4/5. If you're open to try, there is pelmeni, a russian dumpling place across captain cook that closes to midnight,

I think when I posted that, I did not have my coffee yet 🙂
