renee1222 Posted April 30 #1 Share Posted April 30 We will be docked in skagway 8am-8pm with a shore excursion from 12:30-5:30pm. It's been 6 years since I've been, but I seem to remember a shuttle that would take you from the port into town. Would it be feasible to take the shuttle in the morning, eat an early lunch around 11 in town and return on the shuttle to the port area by 12:30 for the excursion? My concern is how often the shuttle runs and where the drop-off point in town would be. My goal is to eat local seafood in each port. I also seem to remember a restaurant possibly right alongside the port, before getting into town. Is there a restaurant there and if so, what is the name of it? wolfie11 Posted April 30 #2 Share Posted April 30 The shuttle runs continuously. $3 per ride or $5 for the day. Halibut and chips at Skagway Brewing is great!
Northern Aurora Posted April 30 #3 Share Posted April 30 The last two times we dined at Skagway Brewing Company we both thought the quality of our meals had markedly slipped. Hopefully quality has improved.
Rare karatemom2 Posted April 30 #4 Share Posted April 30 Skagway Fish Company has very good food and is literally right at the dock area if you want something close by. No shuttle required - just a short walk from the ship. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60877-d5110097-Reviews-Skagway_Fish_Co-Skagway_Alaska.html 2

Following up on the shuttle, I assume this is the SMART shuttle. I see that it runs continuously, but we are wondering if there is a separate SMART to the cemetery, and where to catch it. I asked their customer service: "We could catch the shuttle at the dock or in town. Please tell us where to pick it up, and at what time, to take the shuttle to the cemetery. Or, is there a special Dock to Skagway River Bridge/Gold Rush Cemetery shuttle? When does the shuttle return to town from the cemetery? Perhaps there is a schedule posted?" I also asked if we should use the On Demand option. Here is the incomplete answer: "Cemetery is by the bridge 2 miles from the docks. $5 per person each way. Cemetery and falls take 45 minutes or so to see. " and "Think of it as a taxi" So.... has anyone seen a posted schedule or more information about the whens and wheres of this SMART? We have limited time so all details are very important.
wolfie11 Posted May 25 #7 Share Posted May 25 I was on the shuttle this week. There was a sign about the “taxi” shuttle. This is from their website: The most amazing and beautiful waterfall in Skagway. History and cool head stones, Reader Boards, and a 10-minute hike through a boreal rain forest to a 300” waterfall with fools’ gold in the river and a bear cave. We pick up at 3rd by the Mascot and 5th by the Trail Center every 30 minutes on busy days and on call on slow days. Pickups are the same so it is best to call and find out when we are going. This is done by the SMART Taxi only and is not part of the all day pass from the Downtown Shuttle.
