Ferry Schedule Question - Portovenere to LaSpezia (August 11)

Recommended Posts

We have booked a boat from Vernazza to Portovenere. Then will be heading from Portovenere to La Spezia via ferry to make it back to our cruise ship that leaves at 18:00 (6 pm).

A couple years ago I believe we took a 15:30 (3:30) ferry, getting us to LaSpezia port around 4.

When I'm looking at timetables, there is a spot that says 15:50 in Portovenere, but nothing listed in LaSpezia. (1) Does that mean that a ferry stops in Portovenere and does not continue on to LaSpezia?

It looks like there is a 14:45 (2:45) from Portovenere, which gets into LaSpezia at 15:20 (2:45-3:20). Then there is one at 16 (4) that gets to LaSpezia at 16:30 (4:30). Can anyone confirm that I'm reading this schedule correctly?

Should you want  to consider a different option, , public buses and taxis will also take you the short distance from Portovenere to la Spezia in a short time.😀

Edinburgher,

This is definitely an option.  If we find the line for the ferry is long around 3:30, then we could possibly get a taxi.  We would need a van or 2 taxis as there are 8 in our party.  Do you happen to know if taxis are readily available in Portovenere?    Also, not sure how often you have been there, but would you know if it's a busy time to try to catch the ferry as it's later in the day?

This link has info on the frequent public buses which should be able to accommodate more than 8 passengers, otherwise there is always the next one, because as cruise pax, you should always have a margin of safety and aim for at least the second last one which would get you back in time... There should be additional  info to be found online to double check,  but this to get you started.
