Carnival Sunshine June 22nd Charleston

Embarkation was a little confusing but as Platiunum, we got on about 25 minutes faster than our non Platinum travel mates (family).  I can see why people say Charleston port was not built for cruise ships as this had to be the funkiest and slowest boarding for us for some time (mostly Celebrity and Princess lately).  Most cruise ships lately has become a very quick and efficient process.

Carnival Sunshine seems to have been well maintained but feels crowded for sure in terms of common space and the number of passengers getting on.

In our group of 4 cabins, one’s fridge does not work and the others has a bathroom that smells like urine.

Haven’t met the cabin steward yet to request them to fix these issues to stay tuned

Main pool deck pool is very small and very difficult to get in and out of.

Lunch was good although it seems like they’ve taken out some buffet stations since we last sailed on this ship when it was the Destiny

We might be used to boarding (platinum) in Charleston I guess as we sail from there at least once or twice a year (for many years since it is only a little over 3 hr drive from home).  We know what to expect and never really have any issues with embarkation (it is different than any other embark for sure).

We dont feel it is any more crowded than most other ships but we do not use any of the pools or hot tubs for a reason when cruising, also on Sunshine we mostly use serenity if we want to be out and about.  We use our balcony a lot when we dont feel like being in the mix of people but it is like anything else, manage expectations as much as possible for what the situation is.

Being that it is the first day it may take some extra patience to get things done.  Enjoy your cruise and hopefully everything will settle into place.
