Tampa hotels, 1 night pre-cruise

Are there any Tampa hotels you'd recommend that are walkable to the Royal Caribbean port?  We're not opposed to shuttles and ride shares but also don't mind a brisk walk.  We typically have just 1 medium rolling suitcase each so luggage isn't a big hindrance.  I was sort of looking at the Hampton Inn Downtown Channel District...it's only a 12 minute walk, but is that a safe walk or is it sketchy?

Channel district is a safe residential area.

I would recommend the Embassy Suites Downtown.  It's walkable, has a large buffet in the morning and has a free tram stop right outside the front door.  Great location and the tram could be a backup if raining.

We usually stay at that Hampton and have walked to the three cruise terminals. The Hampton has had in the past a free shuttle pre/post cruise. There is a Publix(supermarket) and CVS within walking distance along with restaurants. The free teco trolley is a short walk from there also.

Walking down 12th st for terminals 2&3 instead of Channelside will keep you out of the sun a bit more.

Embassy Suites like buckeyefrank said is a good choice also.

Thanks!  That Publix is one of the reasons I thought it might be a good option!
