Formal dresses on June Alaskian cruise

Do people still wear formal dresses on June Alaskian cruises or do they add sweaters and such to them?

Also, how about dresses for non-formal nights?

We cruised to Alaska in July, but I think you'll find the temperature onboard ship will be comfortable enough to wear what you would usually wear for a formal night. My formal has short sleeves and I did not need any wrap. If you had a particularly bear dress you may want a shall in case you get cool or want to go out on deck after dinner. Most ships sell shalls in there shops at a reasonable price.

Formal night in Alaska is the same as any other cruise with formal nights.

 

On casual nights, I wore nice pants with assorted tops. I never needed a shawl or sweater, the inside of the ship was the same temp as a warm weather cruise. If you normally wear a sweater or shawl with your formal wear, then it would be appropriate in Alaska as well.

I wore the same formal attire (gowns) as I do on caribbean cruises...you're not dining outside so you are comfortable inside while dining...Alaska is my fav cruise so far...have a great cruise!

Thanks. I am looking at some of the casual dresses that I wore on other cruises and somehow my Jamaican type dresses don't look right for Alaska. LOL

You're right, the Jamaican print might stand out a bit in the crowd. Otherwise, formals were like other destinations. I found it warm enough in the dining room ,theaters, bars etc. However, if you want to take a nice romantic stoll on the deck after dinner, I was much too cold for that.

I will probably bring too many clothes - not knowing what the weather will be like.
