cruisecrazyct Posted September 5 #1 Share Posted September 5 We are looking at a cruise that sails over Passover. Does Holland America do anything special? I don’t need kosher, but I do like to observe the holiday as best I can.
sandiego1 Posted September 6 #2 Share Posted September 6 I know on World Cruises they have a Passover seder on both nights, led by the ship’s rabbi. Friends raved about the roast chicken they were served. I don’t know if it’s offered on a short cruise.
Petronillus Posted September 6 #3 Share Posted September 6 I know that passengers organize and conduct a usual shabbat service in the ersatz chapel soon after the Friday afternoon Mass, which customarily is at 5 o'clock (on port days). I don't know if they wait until sundown. As the previous poster noted, on some of the "major" cruises HAL arranges for a rabbi who will lead high holiday services. On of the Catholic chaplains told me that he is willing to help out with shabbat but has never been asked.
