Birth Certificates

Recommended Posts

Hi, I learned today (4 days prior to our sailing on the Legend) that my father's birth certificate does not have a raised seal. We are told that this will cause major problems, and we were wondering how we could manage to get a raised sealed birth certificate in time for the cruise. Right now we have a copied birth certificate, with no raised seal. Replies would be very much appreciated. thank you, jim

Contact the vital records office in the state where he was born to request a certified copy. For an extra fee, they should be able to FedEx it out to you unless you are close enough to pick it up.

Check out http://www.vitalchek.com/

And then select the state he was born in.

Also depends on the state, but many also have walk-in service, which, because of the short time frame may be the best way to go.

For example, if he was born in NJ, you can also check http://www.state.nj.us/health/vital/inperson.shtml

Most states have similar walk-in service for birth certificates, or you can use the online services and get the expedited service.

Good Luck and enjoy the cruise!!!
