Bioluminesence kayak tour in San Juan

We did this in Jan. It was definately worth the bus ride! This is a site that can't be seen but in only 4 places in the world. We had the best guide possible!

Wear your swimsuit, bring a towel. There are restrooms to change in,,,,but where a kinda nasty. We just stayed in our wet suits for the ride back to port.

I would say....go for it!

Yes, it is a night tour. The bioluminescent effect can only be seen in the dark. In fact, the tour may occasionally be cancelled because of too much moonlight.

Fajardo is perhaps 60-90 minutes away from the pier, depending on traffic.

"Just say NO" to countdown clocks!

Dance like it hurts, love like you need money, and work when somebody's watching.

Yes, a night tour...it HAS to be to see the Bioluminesence effects of the organisms in the water. If the moon is too bright, they have been known to cancel the tour. We didn't get to SanJaun until like 5PM. It was a nearly moonless night and just perfect weather and conditions.

I believe the bus ride was like an hour and 1/2, in a coach type bus. You got a little snack of some cookies and bottled water for the trip back home. You go to a park and get some basic instructions for the 2 person kayaks and off you go.

Water in canal is very shallow and then you go into this bay...it was wonderful!

Hope this helps!

Was this tour through the cruiseline, or could you book it privately? We're thinking of coming one day early to start our cruise next Feb, just so we can see this bay. I've heard that there are short kayak tours, larger ferry type short tours and longer (like 6 hour) kayak tours, but I'm having trouble finding info on themall. If you could book it privately, who was the company that ran it?

Thanks so much for your help
