QTBabyNurse Posted April 2, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2006 I have seen a wedding take place on the Majesty (and a few others as well)....now, I have to be honest...I didn't ATTEND the wedding, just saw it starting as I was walking by and hung around a little to see what I could from outside the lounge. I personally would NOT want my wedding onboard a ship.....they are held in a lounge....the seating is the typical lounge upholstered seats/benches.....the ceilings are low....the lighting is dark....I don't know...it's just not how I would picture a romantic setting. I also had a friend get married a couple of months ago on a Celebrity cruise while in port in Fort Lauderdale...I was unable to attend, but she was not too impressed and said she wished she had not done it on a cruise. Hope this helps...it might also be helpful to go on the weddings/honeymoon section of this website forum.
RDeagazio Posted April 2, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2006 I'll be escorting a wedding group next weekend who will be getting married on the Navigator while docked in St. Thomas. The wedding ceremony will take place in the wedding chapel on deck 15, with a lunch reception following in the Cloud Nine part of the Viking Crown. I have another client who will be getting married in June on the Monarch and the ceremony will take place in the rear part of the Viking Crown, with a private cocktail party following the ceremony. Majesty Fan Posted April 2, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2006 Hubby and I were married on the Majesty almost 5 years (Oct) We were married in the Paint your Waggon LOunge on deck 8? This was done all by Royal Romance which is in Canada. My wedding was too big to be held in the Viking crown Lounge. We had 10 sailing guests and 10 crew and 45 non sailing guests. It was beautiful. I had a DJ for 2 hours, buffett and open bar. Any other questions? Lexi
cmich068 Posted April 2, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 2, 2006 The Skylight Chapel on Voyager Class Ships is a much nicer facility, with reception one deck lower in the Viking Crown. If you want it in the Skylight Chapel, look at one of these ships: Voyager, Explorer, Adventure, Navigator, Mariner, Freedom Either Way, it'll be enjoyable for all. Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted April 2, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 2, 2006 The Skylight Chapel on Mariner of the Seas is peaceful, lovely and intimate. The one caveat is that it does not hold a really large group. Depending on the size of your group, it might be too small. That would be a really big group though. Another thing, unless I do not remember correctly, guests most climb a flight of stairs to get up there. If you have folks in the group who need wheel chairs or walkers, you may have a challenge getting them up to the chapel and back down.
