Druke I Posted April 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2006 Good question. Some roll calls never take off. We got back last week from 'round the Horn, Regal Princess, Buenos Aires to Valparaiso. Had two CC parties on board, perhaps a total of 20 PAX showed up, including the nom-member who thought it was a place to "bitch". (The second meeting was in the Patter!) Nice little group - but it never really "took off". Really too many variables to predict.
Times Prince Posted April 2, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2006 antsp, It is pretty much a combination of luck of the draw and how well you have titled your roll call. As an example, our Alaska cruise ended up having only four people on the roll call, and the original poster who had posted many months ahead of time had given up monitoring it. The net was that there we only two of us actively participating as the cruise neared. This cruise had about 80% new cruisers who were not aware of this board. The other thing was we ended up with two roll calls as there was a difference in how the roll call thread was labeled. The original roll call did not lend itself to a search, due to the title. Make sure your title clearly states the ship and the date of the cruise then destination, and doesn't start with something like "Anybody else sailing on <date> on the <ship>" or some other phrase that makes it difficult for other cc posters to readily find. I don't think there is a standard for roll call titles, but take a look at what is there for the most common title structure that is easiest to find. Lastly, you are early. Don't give up monitoring (or subscribing to) the roll call. When someone else logs in, be sure and welcome them quickly, lest they get disappointed. Have fun preparing for your cruise.
