Rental car return in Miami

I'm flying into FLL on a Saturday but cruising out of Miami on Sunday. I'm planning on renting a car in FLL and returning it in Miami. I've noticed that Hertz and Avis have offices in "Downtown Miami". Would this be the best place to return the car and catch a taxi to the port? Any better suggestions would be appreciated.

I just booked with thrifty and they have a cruise drop off point in miami. We are picking it up in fll. It is cheaper than a cab since we are coming in the night before.

We rented from Enterprise in the FLL airport and returned the car in Miami the next day. Thr drop-off was at a major downtown hotel (I think it was the Hyatt, but I'm not positive) and then Enterprise shuttled us to the cruise port (no cab neessary), about 10 minutes away. It was easy and worked out great.

Not sure of the Hertz location but the AVIS location is about a 6 minute cab ride to the Port of Miami. It's an easy in, easy out location. No lines, no waiting, no hassles. ;)
