cavkc Posted April 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2006 Hi guys We are sailing on Millennium from Vencie on 26th May, however she doesn't actually sail until the evening of 27th ie. we are overnight in Venice. Will the emergency drill take place on the 26th or not until we sail on 27th? Just trying to plan our day.... Many thanks
Druke I Posted April 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2006 International Law requires Muster Drill within 24 hrs of sailing. Usually done (but not always) day of embarkation. More often than not, we have had Muster Drill before slipping the lines. I wouldn't stress over it - it is only 30 minutes out of the cruise. rubrrick Posted April 5, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2006 My best guess, based on previous experience, is that the drill will take place within one hour of sailing. People coming aboard the day before, will be coming and going back to shore. Everyone will be aboard one hour before sailing. Rick
cavkc Posted April 5, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted April 5, 2006 That is what I thought ie they need to 'guarantee' that everyone is on board. The only reason for the query is that the second night (the night we actually set sail) is the first formal night & the captains cocktail party. I can just see everyone in their finest rushing about for the muster drill! We were thinking of having a small party that evening before dinner, which is why I am trying to ascertain if the drill will take place that evening.
