CruisenOne Posted April 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2006 Booked the Royal (No. 2) Princess today for the June 1, 2007 Holy Land sailing. Sight unseen !!!! Does anyone know if the Deck Plan will be the same as the Tahitian Princess or the Pacific Princess ?
LARGIN Posted April 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2006 I presume the deck plans will be almost the same.. The ship is the old R8 and is now called the Minerva II.. Go to this link and you will see the current deck plans. You can compare them to the Tahitian and the Pacific.. http://www.swanhellenic.com/deckplans.asp
Druke I Posted April 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2006 As built, Minerva II aka R8 aka Royal Princess does not have the minisuites on Deck 8, which are on Tahitian Princess and Pacific Princess. There is some speculation that Princess may refurbish deck 8 to bring it into line with the other two R class ships - but there has been no official word on that. Princess is sometimes slow in providing details!
CruisenOne Posted April 6, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted April 6, 2006 Thank you for your info. Princess was rather vague with my TA. I like to know where I will "Hang my hat".
Druke I Posted April 7, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Yes, it is nice to know where one's hat might be. Luckily, the R class ships are small enough that almost any cabin is handy to most venues on ship. Been on two different R class ships (new Pacific Princess & Oceania's Regatta), and think they are very well laid out - although I would avoid forward most cabins - anchor chainway noise and thruster vibrations have been subject of many compliants on various itineraries. If you can get hold of a current Swan Hellenic brochure, you can see the deck plan currently in use on the ship. Very similar to Pacific Princess & Tahitian Princess, except for major cabin configuration changes on deck 8.
