Day sail in Barbados or St. Thomas

Hi!

This is my first post. I am enjoying the wealth of information I have read so far!

We have a group of 20 going on the Carnival Destiny May 7, 2006. We are trying to choose shore excursions, we would rather do them on our own rather than through the cruiseline. We have looked into the Independence Day Sail,out of St. Thomas, they will add a few sail boats to accommodate us. I have also found a few day sail companies in Barbados. Does anyone have a reccommendation as to would it be better (cost, overall experience) to sail in St. Thomas or Barbasos? The other option we have talked about is to take a ferry to St. John and explore the island and then do the sailing in Barbados.
