Just off the Conquest 4/16

DH, DD, DD friend, DS just returned on April 16th. We had two rooms. One interior, one balcony, Upper Deck 6240, 6242, above the theater. We heard no noise from the cabins around us or from the theater below us. We were port side on the ship but only in Jamaica did we actually face the port. The weather was perfect. Todd Wittmer was CD. Very nice. The crew is extremely helpful and seem to enjoy working on the Conquest. The casino personnel are wonderful. Purser's office extremely nice. Tendering took no time at all. In Cozumel the tenders hold 350 people each and are air conditioned. Docked right across from all the shopping and downtown area. We walked to everything. Prices are at all time lows there from what I hear. Fake Rolex $50, hammock swings $15, mayan hammocks $15. Sol beer $1.00 ice cold.

No outdoor movie theater. Food ok. For those of you who don't like jeans in the dining room (and there were a lot of them), how about men in wife beater tee shirts and shorts. Dress code not enforced but MOST people try to comply. Saw on guy trying to come in with no shirt. (Guess they do draw the line somewhere.) 16 oz. Miller beer in Gauguins bar 3.75, same beer in Alfred's bar 4.50, Coor's 12 oz. in the impressions bar, henri's disco, and gauguin's bar $3.50. Good prices on booze in Cozumel and on the ship. If you are not a Texas resident you can bring back 4 liters. (one if you are a Texas resident).

Debarkation-self assist-huge mess. If you have time just let them handle your luggage.

On self assist once they called our deck we waited for the elevator for 10-15 minutes (the stairs were jammed) and once it arrived and we got to the 3rd floor (exit level) the doors opened and no one was moving. We could not exit the elevator for 10 minutes, the doors on the elevator kept trying to close on us because we were stuck half in and half out. Kinda funny now but not at the time. When we did get out we were stuck in the elevator lobby for 25-35 minutes. Some were riding the elevator up and down for 15-20 minutes looking for a chance to get off. I thought some folks were going to get into a fist fight. I am not sure what the hold up was but once the line started to move you better be ready or you will be run over. Maybe just more people than usual using self assist. But we were off the boat by 9:00. Just not very pleasant way to end a great cruise.

I guess it must be different if you fly to the cruise. I can't imagine being in a rush to leave.

They actually called our cabin and made us leave on our Miracle cruise last September. :D

Thanks for your review. We will be in cabin 6220 on our Conquest cruise and was very glad you didn't have a problem with noise from the theater.

Do you have any two things we must do on the Conquest and two things to stay away from (other than self-assist)? :)

Get up early beat the breakfast rush. Stay away from the buffet at dinner time and eat in the dining room. The food is ok. We were in the Monet dining room up front for the 5:45 dinner. A table by the window is great. The staff in the dining room is so nice. Stay up late and go to some of the bars. They made milkshakes at lunchtime. They were soooo good. Everything was enjoyable. The deck on the port side of deck 3 has cushioned lounge chairs and nobody goes out there. Nice and quiet for when you have a hangover or want to read. I tried to read but kept falling asleep. The bedding is fantastic. You will sleep like a baby.

The disco was checking ID's. One girl had a fake ID and they took her to her parents and kept the ID.

Also, order room service. My son loved not having to go to the buffet for lunch. He would order 4 sandwiches and eat them on the balcony. We took a 12 of Barq's root beer and put it in the frig.

If you have a place for a swing hammock from Cozumel...get one. They are so comfy.

Where did they make the milkshakes? Can you remember where you bought your hammock chair? I bought one on my last cruise in Progresso for $7.00 but, many friends would like one now! Christmas presents!:p

Did you have any problems going thru security with a 12 pack of root beer? We are going on the Conquest in May and our 2 sons like Dr. Pepper and I didn't know how much we would be allowed to take.

All the shops in Cozumel sell the hammocks. They were making milkshakes at lunchtime by the buffet closest to the pool.

We took a twelve pack of coke and a twelve pack of rootbeer. No problem at all. We had five people in our group. I did see them take some liquor from someone going through security but they did not care about the soft drinks.
