embarkation time

Recommended Posts

We are on the PG May 20th. Does anyone know what time we can check in our luggage at the ship? We will be staying at the Intercontinental the night before and would like to get our luggage to the pier as early as we can so then we can walk around a little and go back and relax on the ship. We do get a transfer from the hotel, but we will take a cab if we can get there earlier. Thanks for any information.

Things may have changed since we were on PG last April, but: the luggage is delivered by a separate ‘le Truck’. When I saw my luggage disappear into one of those I was sure that I will never see those suitcases again. They – however – showed up in my cabin as promised. The same routine was repeated on the way back: the luggage somehow made it to the day room and from there to the airport. No luggage claim forms, or any way to prove that I ever had the luggage… It works there – but I bet you would not get away with it at JFK.

You may be able to let them handle the luggage and take a cab to town beforehand. It is a ‘little’ nerve wracking but it works!

Hope this helps

We took a cab to the ship from the ICB and we took our luggage with us. I did not like that the hotel collected the luggage and then left it in the lobby unattended while waiting for Le Truck to come get it. There is a petty theft problem in Tahiti so watch your stuff. The cost of living there is quite high and the Gaugine on the ship we talked to on disembarcation day told us there is a drug problem in Papeete.

We went last May, took a cab (requested a Van and got it) for 4 with luggage for $25. US.
