Bumped from he Majestic

We booked a pre cruise package from Celebrity via our travel agent for a one night stay at the Majestic in Barcelona with another couple. The other couple was bumped from the Majestic (after our final payment!) and were being sent to a hotel on a golf course 20 miles away. We did not want to be split up and we wanted to stay in Barcelona. Celebrity said they had overbooked the hotel and someone else had make a reservation for the hotel one minute beforer our friends did. Fortunately, our travel agent was able to find us accomadations at the Palace. We were not happy with the response from Celebrity. If they had to bump someone why couldn't they do it like the airlines do, by offering incentives until someone agrees to give up yheir room. I don't think we'll be booking any more pre or post cruise packages.

Sorry to hear that your friends were bumped from the Majestic, but the Palace (formerly the Ritz Hotel) is a pretty special place also, perhaps better, in my opinion, than the Majestic. And it is only a few blocks from the Majestic. You must try Dromas at the Majestic, for dinner. Very very nice.
