Free drinks in the casino?

We were on the Jewel in January and in the casino each evening. (Trust me, we are NOT high rollers!!)

The first night I was playing at a machine next to a wonderful lady and we struck up (the first) of many delightful conversations. Seems she is a high roller and had a lot of attention from the casino staff. My new friend introduced me to everyone and before too long they asked if I wanted anything to drink. (Attention by association I suppose.) From that evening on my DH and I were always offered drinks. Since it was after dinner I was often too full for anything other than Diet Coke or Perrier but I did order wine on several evenings and it was comp'd.

I do think if you maintain a consistent profile you probably will get some comp's. Just make sure you get a players card.

I know for a fact that if you sit at the bar to play poker you will not get comp'd by the bartender, needs to be comp'd by a casino host.

Hope this helps!

If you do it properly after about the 3rd day or so, while constantly playing at the tables, the pit boss can and will buy a couple of rounds for the table, they like you to keep playing. But depending on who is on duty, you would think it was their money. Good luck......:)

WE were on the Star in January they gave a way free rum punch every so often. I saw the high rollers getting comped. I played Texas Hold Em a few nights. On the last night of the cruise the pit lady bought us all a round of drinks. Even the people who were watching. So not much was free for us!

We also play the slots. Our first trip on the Dawn, did not get any free drinks. On our second trip, one of the casino staff came by and asked us if we would like a drink. This happened maybe two or three times in the course of a week, so it wasn't n every night thing, just once in awhile.

Make sure to sign up for the casino card when you first arrive.

Then use it always and often !!

Make it a point to get to know the staff, everyone from the casino host to the machine techs.

We only play slots and yes we had drinks comped.

Last year on the Sun I would always be offered drinks while in the casino..but I believe its because whenever my machine would light up I needed the slot machine attendants to give me my winnings and I would always tip them. (these are the older machines that do not give out tickets). DH doesn't even play much but just watches me and they even offered him drinks too. But I do believe its because I was always tipping them. Other than that I would never had been offered any freebees.

I'm not sure if it was the tipping part that got you those free drink offers or the fact that on most occassions if you are getting a hand pay or hit a jackpot most servers are instructed to ask if you would like a cocktail. A perk I guess to winning.

I tipped each server in the casino every time I was offered a "comped" drink. Usually a dollar per drink. I also tip if they give me a bottle of water.

I always tip the person who hand pays me.

I do not consider this "buying" good service. I consider this "rewarding" good service.
