Play Zone

I am going on the July 3rd cruise with my husband and 2 children - the children will be 3 and 4 at the time of sailing - I just spoke to Cunard to find out a little more regarding the Play Zone - they told me the following times

9-12pm / 2-5 / 6-12am

I then asked if this changed while the ship was in port - i.e if I chose to do a shore trip would I be able to leave my children in the zone while i did this - I was told no they are the strict hours and that I could do any trip I wanted as long as I was back on board at the times the zone was closed.

Is this right? I haven't sailed on the QM2 with my children before - my only trip so far was my TA

Thanks

K.
