Where does RCCL make the green?

My hubby worked on RCCL ships for a few years and a little known bit of info, it costs on average 3 dollars a day to feed each passenger.. yep 3 dollars a day! Guess buying in bulk really does save them money.
Actually, according to the annual report it's around $8/day including crew. Assuming they spend less on crew food than they do passengers it's probably closer to $10/day for passengers.

I would say the casino and the bars like most people. I recently did a financial analysis of RCCL and they do contract out their spa services and most of their shops so little or no revenues there and I bet that they pay a fair portion of the excursion charges to the vendors that actually provide the excursions.

Technically, it's not a source of revenue, but the fact that pretty much everything that they do is pre-paid by the passengers is a big deal. They can precisely monitor their expenses and even if someone decides not to show up (like they might to a hotel), they won't get a refund if the cruiseline doesn't have time to rebook the room. Plus, the cruiseline reserves the right to cancel a trip if they weren't planning on making a profit on it.

Still, the ships and the fuel are expensive, so it's a good thing that they can watch their expenses carefully.
