Pacific Sun N611 -Secret Treasures - Review

After being home for 10 days, I figured it was time to do some sort of review. Will try not to make it too long & boring.

The Ship. Well..... we loved it. I know some people have made a few negative comments about it so I made sure I went with an open mind. I was not disappointed. Sure, there's no promeade deck but that's something we have to learn to live with. There was side deck space though where you could lounge around & get a nice breeze. I didn't really spend any time there but it was quite popular.

Our cabin was great. There were 5 of us in it and so was a little 'crowded' when the folding bed was down at night but who cares when you're sleeping? It saved us about $5000-00 (as opposed to having 2 cabins) so we were more than willing to put up with it. For 4 people, they are definately big enough. I know they no longer allow 5 in a cabin but if they did, I would certainly do it again.

Bars/Lounges. We really liked the Gazebo bar & spent many hours sitting at the window, drinking & looking out to sea. Very relaxing.

The Atlantis lounge was great for shows. Very well set out, I thought.

(I know Kym, they had those "lovely" seahorses beside the stage but I just took no notice of them). Barely went to the casino as I'm not into that stuff. DH put a few dollars in the pokies but apart from that the only time we went was to buy our bingo tickets. I must admit though it wasn't as smokey as I expected it to be. Legends bar was a bit too smokey and always crowded so spent very little time in there. Went in there one day for a drink whilst in port (wasn't very crowded) and rather liked it but most of the time it was just too packed.

Food & Service. First class!!! We always had brekky in the dining room. I decided that this was my holiday so therefore I was going to be waited on. Didn't have lunch very often. A couple of times got a bit of something at the buffet but that was always on port days so wasn't as busy as sea days. The desserts at lunch were to die for.

The Cruise & Ports. We had great weather with only one rough day (2nd last sea day). My youngest got a little seasick that day but the rest of us were fine. I gave him some phenergan, took him to the medical centre to rule out GI before he could go back to kids club & then he was fine.

Kids facilites were great. Lots for them to do & hardly ever saw them. We ended up changing our dinner sitting after the 1st night because we were on 2nd sitting but discovered that was the major part of the teens evening & our oldest would have missed out on too much.

Ports of call were great but gee it was hot. The humidity was dreadful. We went to Luganville, Wala, Pentecost, Vila & Lifou. We had 3 tender stops and the only time we had to wait for a tender was at Lifou and we had to wait about 20 mins. We didn't book any tours, just did our own thing.

Overall, it was FANTASTIC and we can't wait to do it again. I hope I didn't bore you too much and to all those that haven't cruised yet, you'll have the time of your life.

The kids did a little bit of snorkelling at Pentacost and lots at Lifou. We were thinking of doing the Dawn in Jan '08 but thought that the weather might be better in April. What do you think?

We sailed the first week of June last year and the humidity wasn't too bad, certainly not as bad as it was in Port Vila on our recent cruise - when we got back to the ship from shopping I had to literally peel my t-shirt off.
