Hello-

We will be heading to Alaksa via cruise in August 06. We are stopping in Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan. We are interested in purchasing porcelain dolls (with actual fur, maybe), Ulu knives, and authentic Alaskan products. I have trolled these boards, and have a sense for what to stay away from. However, has anyone out there bought these same types of products and can actually give me store names/addresses? We have our days relatively booked with excursions, and want to shop... just don't want to waste time in a mass marketing tourist trap!

Thanks:)

You can request a brochure from each of your stops. This will list shopping for the area. Most of the shopping is 'touristy'. Juneau does have a doll shop - Memeluck Fur Doll Company at 126 Seward Street. Phone number is 800-355-3691. Haven't been there but, plan to check it out in September. If you go before then post a review and let me know. Happy Shopping!
