Excursion question on Spirit in Florida

We're sailing on the Spirit May 7th down the Florida and the Bahamas. We want to do an excursion either in Port Canaveral or Miami and spend the other day at the beach. We're have a hard time deciding where to do the "beach day"... Where would we enjoy the beaches and surrounding areas better on our own? Miami or Port Canaveral? Where are the beaches nicer/less crowded? Thanks!

That's an easy question...do you like cool, dark, cloudy water or warm, crystal clear, turquoise water? If it's the latter I'd recommend any beach in Miami. ;)
