Excursions to Xel Ha (without Tulum) or arranging own travel to Xel Ha from Cozumel?

Hi,

My hubby and I stayed at an All-Inclusive in Puerto Aventuras (just south of Playa del Carmen) in May of 2000. Our favorite excursion while there was to the Xel Ha park. Unfortunately, our time there was way too short because it was only a half day as part of the standard package tour with Tulum.This coming May we will be traveling down that way again, this time on the Carnival Miracle. We really want to go back to Xel Ha, but our closest port of call will be in Cozumel. We haven't been able to find any organized tours that go to Xel Ha from Cozumel. Does anyone know of any? So our second option is just to try to do it ourselves. I was interested if anyone else had done this and, if so, what transportation they used (bus, taxi, etc.) and how it all worked out.
