Private Guides-Phil

We just got back from a cruise that stopped in Ocho Rios. We had booked our own guide, Phil Lafayette, through the internet and it worked out great. I just wish we had done the same on the other stops. Phil was there at the dock when we got off the ship, had an airconditioned van that would accomodate about 18 people, and was a great host. We had a few delays because of the road work that was being done between the pier and Dunn River, but that of course was unavoidable and not Phil's fault.

Phil took us to Dunn River, and then tubing which was all great fun. He was very clear, however, that for those who didn't want to tube, he had alternative side trips. After the tubing he took us somewhere for lunch where it was clear that everyone else was local. Food was great and inexpensive.

All in all, it was a good day and we intend to do it again, with Phil. He charged $20 a person, and you paid for your own admission into things like Dunn River, but it all seemed very reasonable, particularly compared to a ship's excursion.
