pkpon Posted April 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2006 Just booked this cruise today. Seemed to be very few single cabins still available. Only MI and QG catergories left. Anyone else booked on this cruise?
Coolgran Posted May 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2006 Yes, we have booked for this cruise. We have sailed on QE2 several times and have enjoyed them all. This will be the first round the UK and we look forward to it. It should be quite a different experience.
pkpon Posted May 1, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted May 1, 2006 Glad to read that you have also booked. I think this will be a very special cruise especially as the QE2 will be in Greenock exactly 40 years to the day that she was launched. Anyone know how far she can get up the Clyde now? I am also looking forward to visting the Royal Yacht Britainnia whilst the QE2 is in Queensferry. Britannia was also built at the John Brown shipyards. BettyBoop3850 Posted May 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2006 Hi Can someone explain the 40th Anniversary to me in Sept 2007 as stated I am a bit confused since the Cunard website under facts states "Maiden Voyage: May 2, 1969 (Southampton to New York" Thanks Michelle
pnhmrk Posted May 1, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2006 She was launched on 20th September 1967. She then had to go through fitting out and various trials before her maiden voyage.
jwitt2 Posted May 20, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2006 I looked at the itinerary for this cruise and wonder why they are docking overnight in Newcastle? I went to the Cunard website to see what the shore excursions would be but the page keeps coming up blank. Will there be some kind of big celebration there?
