Carnival Triumph 7-24-04

I was hoping somebody could help me with the following. We will be cruising to the Western Caribbean on the 24th of July. Does anybody have suggestions about the best shore excursions?

We cruised it last year and to be quite honest we found getting off the ship and doing our own thing was the best economically and time wise.

At each port there were a number of vendors that offered similar trips to those on Carnival at much more affordable costs.
