No Gambling after you leave Vancouver???? Waaaaaaah

I just read on a site that the casino on the ship is only open in the international waters around Vancouver and the rest of the trip that the casino is closed!!! It states that gambling is illegal in AK. Granted we are going to AK to see the sites and all.. buuuuttt I was certainly hoping to drop a few $ in the casino. You never know when you will get lucky!

Our last trip to Alaska was in July 2004 on RCI Serenade, from Vancouver.

I don't recall that the casino was closed after Vancouver. We don't exactly hang out in the casino when we cruise, but we do visit for a short while off and on. I feel like I would have noticed if it had been closed at a time when I expected it to be open.

Anyone else know anything about this?

We are getting ready to leave on 5/14 for another Alaska trip -- this time on HAL Westerdam leaving from Seattle. I sure hope the info you got was WRONG!!:D

If this is true... one would certainly think it would be mentioned in the cruise literature somewhere... We are going on Carnival Spirit.

On our Princess cruise last summer the casino opened about an hour after we sailed. It was not open during times we were docked. I seem to recall it was open every night. Enjoy your cruise.

If you are going to Glacier Bay, it will not be open while you are in the national park -- essentially all day. I've cruised Alaska in 98 and again last summer -- casino was open every evening.

We sailed the Carnival Spirit last year. I recall the casino being open every evening that we went to a show in the theater. We walked through it to get to Pharoh's Palace theater. It was closed in port, but I don't remember seeing it closed other times I walked around the ship.

Casino is only closed when the ship is in dock or within a half hour of arriving and departing and in Glacier Bay. At least that has been our experience in the last couple of years.

therefore, from what I'm reading the casinos should be open at night which is just fine. During the day I'm more interested in seeing the sights of Alaska not plunking down change in the slot machines :D
