chelseachivas Posted May 1, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2006 Does anyone have a good private tour/driver for Villa France, Cannes or Nice. We would prefer not to use the ship's prepackaged tour for this destination. Thanks!
Susan-M Posted May 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2006 We used public transit from Villefranche to Eze and Monte Carlo/Monaco - there is very good bus and train service in that area. Nice, Cannes, Eze, Villefranche and Monte Carlo/Monaco are all within close proximity to each other. If you go to the Ports of Call, Europe Board, there are a lot of posts on private tours and public transit in this area. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19 Also, the Roll Call board is a good place to meet others who will be on your cruise - and get some ideas on private tours, and people to partner up with for the tours if you want. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Xcruzr Posted May 1, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2006 I would recommend Alain at Dream Tours. (Google under dream tours and Villafranche). On our trip we stopped in Villefranche twice and booked him both times. He was extrememely personable and we were able to visit so much more than what we could have on the ship excursions. Plus, we were able to customize our trip. Don't miss St. Paul De Vence if you get a chance, One of the most picturesque towns on the cost. He is very reasonable and made sure we enjoyed our trip. Have fun!
PattyMichael Posted May 2, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2006 We sail 9/2 on the Century. On our roll call a member set up a tour with Dreamtours. It's an full 8 hours, picks up at the pier 9am, go to St. Paul de Vence, next on to Nice, on to Eze village, and finally Monaco, Monte Carlo. Lunch on our own. Price 2 300euros 150each 3 390euros 130 4 480euros 120 and so on, the price goes down with more people, up to eight. Check out you roll call and see if someone want to go. Good Luck

If you use the train be sure to validate your tickets in the Yellow machine before you board the train, Don't ask how we found this out:) We took the train to florence and did a walking tour that was found on the web.
