tonaly Posted May 4, 2006 #26 Share Posted May 4, 2006 I'm a bit confused about that too- our soon to be 18yr old doesn't drive. I didn't get my drivers license until I was 22, however once I started college and interacting in the "real world" it quickly became apparant that I needed a state ID - just go to the DMV, I think they are around $12 and look like / work just like a drivers license (only you can't drive with it obviously) With that said. I would have made a color copy of either the DL or passports and laminated them. My guess is they:) would have worked for id, and if lost, no issues. However, their are some regulations against making copies of official US id, so, go figure. We own a copy shop & would not allow you to make a color copy of any government issue document. Black & white only. I suppose you could scan & print it at home, but most copy places won't let you do it. Alyson
