lilbit Posted May 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2006 Would like some personal recommentations of a place to stay in Rome next to the Spanish steps. Looking for more of a traditional Italian more so than say a Marriott, etc. Nice and clean but not overally priced.

florida_cruiser Posted May 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2006 This is perhaps the finest hotel around and is right at the Spanish Steps Intercontinental De La Ville Roma http://www.rome.intercontinental.com/romha/index.shtml
tcocktail Posted May 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2006 This is a charming Italian Hotel Hotel Parlamento( http://www.hotelparlamento.it/)near the Spanish steps. Actually excellent location. The rooms are decorated in Antiques, the guide book say a two star hotel with 4 star service. I stayed there in 2000 and the service was excellent. TNTKP Posted May 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2006 lilbit, Try looking an tripadvisor.com and venere.com. I know you were looking for personal recommendations, but these sites give many, many choices with many, many user reviews. There are almost too many to choose from! Remember, all recomendations are subjective, to a point, anyway! Good Luck, Tim

sasset Posted May 3, 2006 #7 Share Posted May 3, 2006 I second the suggestion of Hotel Parlamento. We stayed there in 2001 after a transatlantic cruise. They agreed to hold our excess cruise bags for 5 days while we went to Positano and Orvieto. Location is very convenient. There is a Bus/Taxi plaza right around the corner. Easy walk to many sites. Very reasonably priced. In 2001 it was $100 a night for a double, including the typical Italian hotel breakfast. Helpful staff. We had one of the rooms that open onto the rooftop terrace.
