Le Havre - Normandy Landing Beaches

Recommended Posts

We used a private tour guide to take us to the Normandy beaches last year while in Le Havre. From what I could determine the rental car agencies were not particularly close to the port and they had limited hours of service. I don't think train service is an option. Here is the web site for the guide we used. John did a fantastic job.

Much info on transport to the various beaches either INDIVIDUALLY or as TOURS can be found on the internet simply by googling key words. You could even try googling the names of individual beaches.

Many start from Bayeux or Caen. These Tourist Office websites should have info on them. Le Havre Tourist Office might also have info on theirs.

The main bus company in the region is busverts and their timetables and info can also be found online. They run around the region including Caen, Honfleur etc. And in summer they actually operate their own day tour of the beaches.

It might be best to look on the internet and see whats on offer. This is because different people usually have different reasons for wanting to visit specific beaches and "general" tours might not be specific enough for them. Quite often a family or nationality connection to certain beaches makes these beaches more important to certain people.

And it may be that the taxitours which are usually to be found at the pier could also offer these. I cant remember exactly but they offerered tours to most places.

And have you tried "searching" on cruisecritic? Again, keywords should bring up previous posts on the subject as well as their replies. On this forum click SEARCH THIS FORUM. Or use the SEARCH facility to search all boards.
