TylerMan Posted May 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2006 I apologize if this has already been asked but my search forum kept freezing up on me.. Can we carry all of our own luggage on the ship? We are sailing on the Wind out of Vancouver and would like to bring all of our luggage on with us when we board. Is this acceptable?
johnql Posted May 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2006 Yes, but if you board early enough, there's a chance that your cabin might not be ready yet and you might not be able to drop off your bags right away.

It depends on the size of your suitcases - they have to be able to fit in the scanner. We took all our luggage on board ourselves on our last cruise. Our suitcases are small-medium rolling ones. bearette Posted May 7, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2006 You can't bring all of your luggage on the ship since they have to go through an x-ray machine that will only fit carry on size luggage. If all of your bags are carry on size you will be fine, but I seriously doubt all your luggage is carry on size.
garycarla Posted May 8, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2006 The scanner that ships use is much larger than the airport ones. Medium size to the smaller side of large will fit fine. Not sure if you really want to do this though. You can drop them at the curb and not worry about them until they arrive in your room. We do take one rollon/carryon bag with personal stuff, change of clothes, etc. Remember, you may well have to deal with lots of lines. Elevators when you board are at a premium between those that are blocked for baggage service by the crew and all the people trying to figure out where they are going.
