Honeymooner2006 Posted May 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2006 Has anyone ever had RSSC ship their luggage home after a cruise? I noted that they offer this service but wasn't sure if it was any good or ran you an arm and leg. We are spending three days post cruise on our own in Vancouver and thought we might be able to have the majority of our clothes shipped back to LA by RSSC so we didn't have to drag it all on the plane home. Any thoughts and/or experiences? Thanks, -Ann
petlover Posted May 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2006 RSSC shipped our luggage for us (as a perk) on the World Cruise. They use IPS. http://www.intlportservices.com (1-800-395-8810). Don't know the exact cost since we didn't pay but I know it's expensive.
thulewx Posted May 10, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2006 IPS: US - US or Canada, $175 for 1st 100 lb, $1.75 per pound over that. :( Int'l: $250 for 1st 45lb, $5.50 per pound over that PLUS $125 customs charge. So, for example, Lisbon to Georgia, 80 pounds, after cruise would cost me $250 + 192.50 + $125 = $567.50
jhp Posted May 11, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2006 It will run you an arm or a leg, since you asked! Not worth it unless you are just physically unable to schlepp the luggage with the help of whatever skycaps are available where you are going. Hauling luggage is right behind getting through security as one of the unpleasant parts of travel these days.
Honeymooner2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted May 12, 2006 Thanks for the info. I really appreciate you letting me know. Depending on how it feels dragging our bags on to the ship, we may ship some bags back - but no more than 100 pounds (and probably less). -Ann
