Taxi to Harrison's Cave?

We will be in Barbados on the Carnival Destiny on May 17. We are looking at going to Harrison's Cave on our own via taxi. My questions are: how much would it cost round trip for two people? How long is the trip out there and how long does the tour last? We want to allow for some time to shop and sightsee in Bridgetown. Any advice is much appreciated, Thanks!

Harrisons is about five (5) miles from Deep Water Harbour.

 

Should take about 15-20 minutes, depending on the traffic.

 

My wife has made it in 11 minutes, but it took me 20 minutes to recover..........

 

Taxi rates are now about US$25/hr for up to four (4) in the cab.

 

Figure US$20 there and back and US$ 12.00 while he waits for you (the tour is about 45 minutes but you'll have queue time), so figure one hour.

 

About US$32-35 + tip.

 

You can take the bus for US$.75/ea. Takes longer but is an adventure in itself.

 

What do you wish to shop for in B-town?

 

If you're looking for bargains, we are fresh out (except for rum)......

 

We've been here for 14 North American winters and I can't remember ever seeing a bargain like we see in the states.

 

I'd invest the whole day exploring and save the shopping for your next visit.
