kingsrx Posted May 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2006 I was looking on the website for the online check in and other things and came across an area where it said that we could use a Visa, Mastercard or American Express to settle our shipboard account. Am I correct in assuming that means that Discover is NOT accepted for this purpose? Also is Discover accepted in Europe or are we better off just leaving that one home? BaltiGator Posted May 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2006 I don't (yet) know about Celebrity, but I can tell you that you definitely CAN use Discover for your SeaPass/shipboard account on RCI, which after all owns Celebrity. No doubt someone else who has already cruised Celebrity will have a more direct answer to that part of your question. The other part of your question I can answer with certainty. Discover is not widely accepted anywhere outside of North America. Very few places in Europe, some in the UK but it's sporadic. Almost nowhere in South America. I've been told Asia and Australia are likewise. Heck, even in Mexico and Canada the coverage is sporadic. Double heck, even in the good old USA lots of places still don't take it. Going to Europe? Grab your Visa card and an AmEx card. Much better coverage and protection. We just leave our Discover card at home or in the safe.
