SilkySal Posted May 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2006 Hey there upstate! Hope you can advise me on a couple of questions. My sisters and I are planning an east coast cruise to view your beautiful fall foliage. We all also desire to spend a couple of days pre or post cruise to check out your exciting city, possibly take in a Broadway show, and even try to be present for the Morning Show with the rest of the tourists! What weeks are "best" for colorful fall foliage? Will it be better to stay in NY pre or post cruising? Which hotel is best located to do the above activities? I've heard about horrible traffic problems:eek: , so don't rent a car, and is public transportation fairly reasonable? What should we absolutely "not miss" while we're there? I'll probably have more questions later but, for now, I think these will do. Us country folks would really appreciate your input!:p Thanks Big Apple!:D salgal
madelinerose Posted May 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2006 I would put this thread on the "United States" Port of Call board. You will get lots of suggestions there, especially since New York isn't in Canada or New England. ;)
SilkySal Posted May 23, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted May 23, 2006 Don't know if you meant to be a wiseA or not, but I do know where NY is, even though I am from the midwest. I do believe that some of my questions were also about the NY area, hotels, traffic, sites, plays, etc. If you choose to give input, you might be a little more helpful. However, thanks for the posting advice. Have a nice day!:D salgal
madelinerose Posted May 23, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2006 No, I am not being a "wiseA". I wouldn't have used the "wink" if I was being a "wiseA". Many many people post questions about New York on the United States board. Of course, you know where New York is. You posted your thread here 4 days ago...have you received any answers? No. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=345765 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=341939 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=338552 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=276558 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=332361 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=333790 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=296190 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=330047 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=317269 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=280997 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=92&order=desc http://cityguide.aol.com/newyork/entertainment/article.adp?aid=4064 Central Park is the place in NYC to view Fall foliage: http://cityguide.aol.com/newyork/entertainment/venue.adp?vid=22204 http://www.nyctourist.com/rock_center1.htm http://www.hotelsbythepier.com/ In NYC, we take taxis, the subway or walk. Mostly walking. Midtown hotels are close to all of the "action". Doubletree, Marriott Marquis, Westin at Times Square are just a few. If I was visiting for the first time, I'd want to see the Statue of Liberty, take a Gray Line harbor tour around Manhattan at night, Times Square, stroll through Central Park, visit the zoo and Metropolitan Museum of Art (massive), see a show and dine in as many wonderful restaurants as possible. Enjoy your trip. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g60763-New_York_City_New_York-Hotels.html
SilkySal Posted May 23, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted May 23, 2006 Sorry, no excuses, too old for PMS, probably just OBS (old bitch syndrome). Thanks for all of the info! After all of this, now she wants to go somewhere with warm beaches. Have you ever wanted to kill your sister? I did note that there are some cruises porting out of the harbor and sailing to Bermuda. I told her to do the research and let me know exactly what she wants to do. I'm beginning to think cruising with sisters may be a bad idea. O well, I'm going to leave the planning to her for awhile, as my family and I are getting ready to cruise Hawaii next month! ALOHA!:D salgal POAL 6-18-
madelinerose Posted May 24, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 24, 2006 No problem. We all have our moments. Well, I have no sister, but I'd certainly now leave all the planning and every detail up to her. Good, the ball's now in her court. Have a wonderful time in Hawaii. ;) Sorry, no excuses, too old for PMS, probably just OBS (old bitch syndrome). Thanks for all of the info!
