vtxriders Posted May 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2006 We are trying to figure out what to do in St. Maartin during our day off of the Mariner. We were looking at diving but the reviews all say that the diving is not very good (still any dive should be a good dive). We really aren't into shopping and really don't want to spend the entire day on the beach. Mom is into photography but the others would be board. I think the America's Cup would be a great fix but didn't pre-book w/ the ship and if it is like anything else, it will be sold out. We typically choose not to book through the ship but are struggling with what to do for entertainment and getting the biggest bang for out buck. Any Suggestions? Sheffie Posted May 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2006 I suggest that you try to book the America's Cup Regatta when you first get on-board. It would fit the bill for everyone. There may be spots open. Good luck! If you can't do that, you could always take an island tour that drops you off at a beach. This board has some that people highly recommend. You could always e-mail them from the ship. Otherwise, there are tons of tour guides at the end of the pier. Have a fabulous cruise!

cruzobsessed Posted May 24, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2006 we did this in december and will do it again this december......start your day at DIVI LITTLE BAY. it is very close to the port and is an all inclusive that lets you use the beach, chairs, and rental of all water sports. we rented jet skiis and snorkeled. while there you can watch other ships come into port..plus the scenery is very nice (photo op). here's the highlight if the day...you leave DIVI by 12:30 and take a cab/van to MAHO. this is a beach that is at the base of the st. martaan airport. there is no experience like being on the beach and having a jumbo jet fly RIGHT OVER YOUR HEAD!!!. talk about the photo opportunities. PLUS THIS IS VERY COOL. there is a place to eat while there called THE SUNSET BAR AND GRILL. we ordered burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches and sat in awe of the airplanes which land every coule of minutes. if you do a search on this board of "maho". you will find phots that look unbelievable....BELIEVE IT.;)
cruise-wife Posted June 25, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2006 Try Lord Sheffield's Pirate Ship tours. They take you an a tall ship sail along the island, grill out ribs (ymmm), supply beverages both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. When they get to the end of the island they weigh anchor and allow the passengers to swim from alongside the "ship" for about an hour. This was a magnificent tour. We enjoyed it so much that we are doing it again this coming cruise to St. Martin. Book early though, the ship only holds about 25 passengers. The cost is about $60pp.
