Riviera Deck - Balcony Cabin in Back of Ship by Pool

Has anyone been on the Caribbean Princess and sailed on the Riviera Deck in the back of the ship? The cabin we are considering is literally a few doors from the doors to the pool. I've been told that there are stairs from the Lido deck above that people can use to access this pool. Any thoughts on this location regarding noise (from pool area or Lido deck above), views - obstructed?, motion of the ship, etc?

Thanks!

I wish i had an answer for you on this. We are going in 2 1/2 weeks on cb and we are in r710. Someone told me that they had this cabin and loved it and would book it again. However i havent found much when i have posted about noise levels etc on this deck.. wish i could be more helpful.

Thanks for your reply! I kinda like the idea of being able to step right out and onto the deck, climb just one set of stairs and onto the Lido deck. I guess we'll just see how it goes! We've only sailed once - last year on RC Adventure of the Seas in an owner's suite which was to die for! It was mid-ship and was really awesome. That spoiled me. But - in order to cruise more frequently, we need to book other cabin types. We want to sample Princess and see how it compares cruise-wise. Unfortunately, this cabin is one of the very last ones available besides handicapped cabins. But - at least it has a balcony.

We were in R708 last year and loved it! A few steps back is a small stairway that leads right to the adult pool and a few steps and one flight up is the buffet. One of us would run up there for breakfast to bring back stuff to eat on every morning on the balcony-- we'ld have the basics delivered by room service and supplement with eggs and bacon! We were never bothered by noice above.

In fact, we may book the same cabin next year. Plus the balcony is covered for shade and you get to look down on everyone elses's extended balcony!

Good to know that someone else has a concern about this and has gotten positive feedback. DBF and I booked an outside guarantee (category G) on the 8/16/06 sailing of the Crown Princess and last week we were upgraded to a category C cabin all the way aft on Riviera deck next to the terrace pool - room 747. I posted with the same concerns, and aside from one discouraging reply, it seems from the other replies that there is nothing to worry about. :D

From the posts here, I'm guessing that the terrace pool is the adults pool, which means the noise level wont be too loud.

Thank goodness! Based on everyone's feedback, we booked our cabin #738 today. I didn't read anything negative about the motion of the boat, but I think I'll get the patch anyway. I wore one last year and was totally fine. I get motion sickness pretty easily, and it worked like a charm. Of course, the Captain said the seas were so smooth that he didn't even have the stabalizers on. Like the idea about breakfast! I'll have to send hubby out to do the same! It's sounding more and more like this cabin may be in a pretty strategic and convenient location afterall.

Our cruise was on the Dawn, but we stayed in a balcony suite on the Riviera deck. I absolutely loved it and if I ever go again, that's the only place I'd stay! It was nice being able to just dash down the hall to/from the pool area, and it was a quick easy trip to the buffet for coffee or whatever since it was directly above us, one floor up. Close to the elevators. Almost no traffic or noise. What more could you want???

On the Dawn, I think all the balconies were the same size (small). Not sure about other ships.

As for motion, I have nothing to compare it to, but there was only one night that there was a lot of rocking and rolling -- but it was doing that all over the ship. I thought it was kinda cool, myself! LOL.

We stayed in it when we cruised in 2004 and loved it. So much that I just booked A710 it's twin on the Diamond! It is an adult pool, there are no noise problems. You are a short set of steps away from Cafe Caribe which equals snacks on the balcony. Plus the Hottub is up another short flite by the splash pool if I remember correctly. We still get our exercise making our way down to the casino & shopping. My idea of heaven is reading by the pool and this location fits to a T.

  • 1 month later...

In case anyone is still following this post...I am back from my cruise now. The location of the cabin was great! We, too, loved walking right outside our door, up just a few steps onto the aft pool area to snag a lounge chair to sit and watch the wake. It was also very convenient to the buffet, but the food (be prepared) is actually very bad.

The ship moved the whole trip...even while still docked at Ft. Lauderdale. I never felt the ship stop swaying. Thank goodness I used the patch, as I do get motion sickness. I was actually quite surprised to feel so much movement on the ship since the seas were quite calm. It was definitely worse in our cabin. Take a remedy and hopefully it won't bother you either. The tenders, by the way, bounce around alot...I mean alot.

Now that I'm back, I've actually been dizzy all week. I swear I can still feel the ship move! I'm taking meclizine every now and then...
