port of tampa: where exactly?

we are on the miracle next february, and was just wondering: where is the port and how long does it take to get to gulf?

The port of Tampa is in "Downtown" at channelside. The ships take about 30 to 45 minutes to get out under the Skyway bridge. It's a pretty interesting ride because, to fit the cruise ship out of the dockage, they close down that part of the channel to any other ships. Once you get out of the tight area, there are always lots of boats waiving since they have been waiting for you to clear.

thanks for the info: what do you mean by "channelside"? if i was to look at a tampa map, where do i look?
